Franklin County Invitational

The team headed to Lexington on this cold, rainy morning for our first 3K race.  We arrived in sweatshirts, rain gear and with umbrellas and with our fingers (and sweatshirt sleeves) crossed for better weather.
As we handed out bib numbers the skies cleared and the sun peeked out. Umbrellas were put away for the day and sweatshirts were shed. It was going to be a beautiful day to run in the bluegrass fields of the Kentucky Horse Park.
We gathered for our walk through.......

We found the course to be quite fertilized! ;)

Watch where you are running, Gators!
The girls got off to a great start when their race began!
The Gators seems to really be flying today!

The Gator girls really showed their running skills today and were we so proud of their effort and the heart they showed in Lexington. The Girls team was led in scoring by Lauren Ashton, Renee Grendi, Allison Byers,Hadley Fischer and Brooke Payne.  With the girls race over we switched gears to the boys....
 The coaches got them ready.....
 and they were off!
It was a battle till the end with the YMCA club for our Goshen boys!

Our boys finished strong and we are so proud of them! What a great first 3K! The boys were led in scoring by Riggs Hardy, Grant Adelson, Jack Fischer, Colin Schaffner, Sam Morsman and Rollins Hardy.
When it's over we do our post race rituals....parents run to kids even though fences separate them just to see that face....whether it's a face of I was great or I could have done better....we want to see it.
We take pictures to remember the day.......a snap shot we can carry in our hearts.
We discuss the race....the play by play for each child......
We wait for the results.....and swarm to them when they are posted.....
longing to see how we did as a team....and how each child did individually....
We take in the results...good or bad....

Today we celebrated in a big way as the Gator Girls first brought home a first place trophy.....
 and so did the boys!

Way to go Gators! You took the Kentucky Horse Park by storm!
