Goshen Elementary XC: Shelby County Invitational

We arrived at the Shelby County Invitational for our first meet of the season and the prep work began....

Tents were put up......

banners were hung......

Bib Numbers were pinned on....

and Smiles were plentiful!

Our Gators were nervous but happy....

excited but ready........

and soon we headed over to the corn for the walk through!

Spikes were put on.....

cheer were cheered.....

and last minute words of encouragement were given.....

And then.... one by one....race by race..... the gun went off....and we found our selves all caught up in the excitement of the meet as our Gators left the start line......

Our Gators ran...each with their own story.....

some recovering from an injury.....

some who have been watching older sibling run for what seems like forever.....

some as tenured members of the team.....

some running for Goshen XC for the very first time......

But no matter what their story...they all tried their best.....

dug deep........

and ran for Goshen XC with pride......

for one mile.....

all the way to the finish line.......

On the other side of that shoot lots of things were waiting on our runners....

Things like bragging rights for a broken course record.....

cheering team mates.......

hight fives.....

Moms......

Dads......

Medals.....

But more than that.....on the other side of that finish shoot....waited a sense of accomplishment for working hard in practice...a heartfelt effort today.....and a true understand of what this sport...this team....is all about....

We are so proud of every one of you.... for the runner you have committed to be and for being a part of our team! We celebrate with you and are so happy we had this amazing first meet together!
